Psychological Screening

A psychological assessment is a standard part of the egg donation process in Canada. This is not a judgment — it's designed to ensure you're making a fully informed decision and to provide support.

  • Meeting with a licensed counselor experienced in fertility and donation
  • Discussion of your motivations, expectations, and emotional readiness
  • Review of informed consent and what the process involves
  • Access to ongoing counseling support throughout your journey

Legal Framework: The AHRA

Egg donation in Canada is governed by the Assisted Human Reproduction Act (AHRA), which establishes an altruistic framework. Key provisions:

  • Egg donation is legal and regulated in Canada
  • Donations must be altruistic — donors cannot receive a fee for donating
  • Eligible out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed based on documented costs
  • All expenses must be documented and directly related to the donation
  • Independent legal counsel is recommended for all parties

Family Seed operates in full compliance with the AHRA and ensures all donors are informed of their rights and responsibilities before proceeding.
